Taking the Pain Out of Remodeling
You’ve been dreaming about renovating for years. Your Pinterest boards are filled with carefully curated ideas, your camera reel is brimming with screenshots, and your Instagram feed is all about the latest design trends.
It’s an exciting time and you have big expectations! Yet often, the thrill of a remodel can be overshadowed by the stressors of construction. At Viking, we understand these challenges and are here to help make the process easier. Our team prides itself on transforming homes without the usual headaches. Take this recent Farmington kitchen project, for example: a perfect blend of vision, expertise, and seamless execution.
A local family fell in love with a mid-century modern home that offered incredible potential but needed significant updates to suit their lifestyle. Eager to preserve its architectural roots while enhancing functionality, they turned their attention to the kitchen.
As the heart of the home, the kitchen was small, lacked efficiency, and felt disconnected from the rest of the house. Theresa Loffredo, Viking Design & Sales Specialist, recognized the family’s vision and crafted a layout that embraced the open, angular aesthetic of mid-century modern design.
The family decided to remove a couple of walls to allow our team to design a spacious, cohesive flow that now connects the kitchen to the living room. An angled island became the focal point, echoing the home’s existing modern geometry while providing additional workspace and seating. Subtle beadboard detailing around the island added a stylish textural interest.

Staying true to the home’s mid-century charm, we selected Diamond brand cabinets in the Loren door style with a warm Cherry Kanga finish, reminiscent of the original slab-style cabinetry the family loved. The switch to full-overlay doors brought a cleaner, more contemporary look.
Satin gold cabinet pulls from Richelieu Modern Hardware added a sleek touch, while MSI Calacatta Elysio™ Quartz countertops introduced a refined, durable surface perfect for daily use.
This thoughtful blend of timeless materials and modern design details created a kitchen that is both functional and stunning. Ready to start your own renovation journey?
