The basic oak builder grade kitchen in this large colonial was lacking functionality for a busy family who loved to entertain and garden. They have a large herb and vegetable garden and loved to prepare fresh food daily which required a significant amount of prep space and storage, and additionally desired a showplace to wow their frequent house guests.
Their builder added six feet to the back of the kitchen and dining area, which allowed for an amazing tranformation to take place. A truly spectacular island was the center piece of their kitchen remodel, along with professional grade appliaces. With seating for five and stained in a rich, dark charcoal finish on cherry wood, the perimeter cabinetry was painted a crisp white. The cooking area was complete with a range top and pot filler, and this coffee loving family added a small café bar in the hall after removing a small closet.
Additionally, two matching cherry hutches were added in the dining room, which held table linens and serving ware, which allowed the large space to feel unified and cohesive. The result was nothing short of breath taking.
