Countertop Installer Position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Countertop Installer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in all aspects of countertop installation and repair, including seaming, polishing, sink installation, chip repairs, countertop leveling, and sealing. This role requires strong leadership abilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to direct an install helper. A high level of customer service is essential due to direct daily interactions with clients.

About the Role

As a Countertop Installer, you will be responsible for handling the installation and repair of countertops in various environments. You must be skilled in using a variety of power and hand tools, performing basic carpentry functions, and ensuring customer satisfaction by following company procedures and maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

Location: New Britain, CT
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Installation Supervisor
Compensation: Competitive based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Install and repair countertops, including seaming, polishing, sink installation, chip repairs, leveling, and sealing.
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, generators, and air compressors.
  • Perform basic carpentry related to countertop installation.
  • Load and unload stone materials for delivery and customer pickup.
  • Maintain and perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Use measuring tools accurately (tape measures, squares, levels).
  • Communicate effectively with customers and follow company procedures during installations.
  • Ensure all installation areas are clean and free of debris post-installation.
  • Follow safety procedures at job sites and in the shop.
  • Complete all required documentation and communicate project updates to supervisors.
  • Work mandatory overtime when necessary.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and move up to 500 lbs with team assistance.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Use of hands for handling tools and materials.
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in countertop installation and repair techniques.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate power and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s License and medical card with a clean driving record.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic math skills and ability to read measuring tools.
  • Authorization for a background check is required.

Language, Mathematical & Reasoning Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, maintenance instructions, and shop documents.
  • Basic algebra and geometry skills for measuring and calculating dimensions.
  • Problem-solving skills to address practical issues and follow written or verbal instructions.

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Moderate noise levels in shop and job site environments.
